Presentationfly fishing glossary
The manner in which a fly is cast and delivered to the fish.
Presentation encompasses everything about how your fly arrives at the fish: the accuracy of your cast, the delicacy of the landing, the drift quality, and the overall approach. Even a perfect fly pattern will fail with poor presentation.
Elements of Good Presentation
- Accuracy: Land the fly in the feeding lane
- Stealth: Minimal splash, avoid lining the fish
- Drift: Drag-free float matching natural food
- Approach: Stay low, move slowly, cast from downstream
